A genius visited an island full of either sporks or barnes. Sporks always lie and barnes always tell the truth

The genius went up to two locals named James and Leo, he asked James “are you both barnes?”

James answered with either yes or no. once hearing the answer he knew which type each one was with 100% certainty.
